Comics and More

I've been a fan of comics and comic books all my life. Comics were a big influence in getting me to start and to enjoy reading. whether it was the pictures in the Sunday funnies or Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse comics I was a fan. I loved reading and seeing the pictures so I could visualize the scenes.

As I got older I started reading Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and anything else I could get my hands on. I even remember the first comic book I bought with my own money. It was an issue of Fantastic Four. I read that comic book cover to cover over and over until I had it memorized and I still own it to today. It's in pretty rough shape and has pieces cut out, like the ads where you could get these cool toys if you sent away for it.

I've always been a fan of Marvel and have since expanded into both DC and a number of Independents. Along the way I've had the pleasure to meet some of my favorite writers, artists and creators including Peter David, Todd McFarlane, Chris Claremont, John Byrne, George Perez, Will Eisner and Alex Ross just to name a few.

Unfortunately, I never got the privelege to meet my favorite an so many others favorite - Jack Kirby. He created most of my favorite comic titles that I spent so much time reading: Fantastic Four, Avengers, Incredible Hulk, Xmen, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America just to name a few.

He, in my opinion, was the most important man in comic history as he almost single handedly saved Marvel Comics from the brink of extinction with all of his creations. The comic book industry owes him a debt it can never repay.
